Jonathan Perez of Shakopee was a declared winner at 114 pounds in the Region 1 Golden Gloves competition Saturday in Minneapolis.
Perez advances to the Upper Midwest Golden Gloves Regional Tournament April 8-10 in Walker, Minn.
He is a senior at Shakopee High School.
Win Willy, owned by Jerry and Marlene Myers (Jer-Mar Stables) of Minneapolis, won the $150,000 Grade 3 Razorback Handicap on Saturday at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark.
The 4-year-old Kentucky-bred thoroughbred is trained by Mac Robertson and was ridden by Cliff Berry.
Win Willy finished the 1 1/16th mile Razorback in 1 minute, 43.83 seconds, drawing away to win by 3 3/4 lengths.

ST. PAUL - Three of the four Shakopee wrestlers were eliminated from the state tournament Thursday night at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Only freshman Pat Casey is still alive after winning is one match in the wrestlebacks of the 112-pound weight division.

Some Scott County Pheasants Forever (PF) chapter volunteers were recognized at the 24th annual Winter Habitat Banquet of the local group and at the Minnesota Pheasants Forever State Convention held at Sugar Lake Lodge in Grand Rapids.
Wayne Burville of Shakopee was presented the Dedication Award and John Halloran of Belle Plaine and Roman Hoofhower of rural New Prague were inducted into the Longspur Society. Federal Premium Ammunition of Anoka was given the Longtail Award with employee Brian Kelvington of Jordan accepting it on behalf of the company.
The Shakopee wrestling team qualified four individuals for the state tournament at the Class 3A, Section 2 individual meet on Saturday afternoon.
Qualifying for state was Pat Casey, Benjamine Kroll, Mark Mustradi and Nick McKenzie.
MINNEAPOLIS — Bethany Brausen, a senior forward on the Roseville Area High School girls’ hockey team was named the winner of the 15th annual Ms. Hockey Award by Let’s Play Hockey newspaper today at the annual Ms. Hockey Awards Banquet.
